Reporting of Round 20 Cost-Buckets by AN-SNAP class, national level
10 December 2018This table presents cost bucket level cost data from Round 20 of the National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) for all end classes identified in the Australian National Sub and Non-Acute Patients (AN-SNAP) classification.

IHPA Work Program 2018–19

- set out IHPA’s work program for the coming year; and
- invite interested persons (including states and territories) to make submissions to the Pricing Authority about the work program up to 30 days after publication.

National Hospital Cost Data Collection, Public Hospitals Cost Report, Round 20 (Financial year 2015-16)

The report investigates a number of specific questions relating to hospital costs for admitted, non-admitted and emergency department services. The report includes jurisdiction level data and the national cost weight tables.

National Hospital Cost Data Collection, Private Hospital Cost Report, Round 20 (Financial year 2015-16)
13 February 2018The private sector National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) is a voluntary collection that produces a range of hospital cost and activity information by the Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRG). This report includes the findings from Round 20 (financial year 2015-16) of the NHCDC for acute admitted care provided by overnight private hospitals.

17 January 2018The National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) is the primary data collection that the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) relies on to calculate the National Efficient Price used for the funding of public hospital services. To ensure that the quality of NHCDC data is robust and fit-for-purpose, IHPA commissions an independent financial review to assess whether all participating hospitals have included appropriate costs and patient activity.

Bundled pricing for maternity care
14 November 2017Bundled pricing is where a single price covers a full package of care over a defined period of time, spanning multiple events and settings of care. The intention is for resources and funding to be easier for hospitals to manage, to allow financial flexibility to encourage improved models of care or greater standardisation of evidence-based care, and drive better service delivery in the long run which should lead to better patient outcomes and lower costs.
