Coding Rules provide specific classification advice applicable for separations beginning the following month, unless specified otherwise. A Coding Rule published on 15 March 2022 is applicable for separations from 1 April 2022.
Coding Rules may also be used to activate an emergency use code or placeholder code in a classification.
AR-DRG Version 11.0
6 June 2022The Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRGs) is a classification system, which provides a clinically meaningful way to relate the number and type of patients treated in a hospital to the resources required by the hospital. AR-DRGs group patients with similar diagnoses requiring similar hospital services.

17 December 2021The Australian National Subacute and Non-Acute Patient Classification (AN-SNAP) is a casemix classification used for activity based funding, clinical management and other purposes.
The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) has developed AN-SNAP Version 5.0 through detailed statistical analysis of public hospital activity and cost data, as well as consultation with jurisdictions, clinical experts and other subacute care stakeholders.
Mental Health Phase of Care Clinical Refinement Testing Project – Final Report
19 July 2021The Mental Health Phase of Care (MHPoC) Clinical Refinement Testing Project aimed to determine whether refinements to the MHPoC recommended as part of the 2017 Clinical Refinement Project improved the reliability of how MHPoC definitions are applied by clinicians. This report outlines the findings from the testing and recommendations on the future refinement of the MHPoC. This report was approved by the Pricing Authority in May 2021.
