IHPA Work Program and Corporate Plan 2021–22
11 June 2021The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority Work Program and Corporate Plan 2021–22 has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of section 225 of the National Health Reform Act 2011 and section 35(1)(b) of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 for the reporting periods 2021–22 to 2023–24.

National Efficient Price Determination 2021–22
2 March 2021The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) is established under the National Health Reform Act 2011 (Cwlth) (the Act), and by virtue of section 131(1) of the Act is invested with the following functions relevant to this National Efficient Price Determination 2021–22 (Determination):
Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2019-20
4 December 2018The Pricing Framework for Australian public hospital services 2019-20 builds on the seven Pricing Frameworks from previous years. The Pricing Framework is the key strategic document underpinning the National Efficient Price (NEP) and National Efficient Cost (NEC) Determinations for the financial year 2019-20.
IHPA Work Program 2018–19
26 June 2018As prescribed in Section 225 of the National Health Reform Act 2011 (the Act), the objectives of the IHPA Work Program are to:
- set out IHPA’s work program for the coming year; and
- invite interested persons (including states and territories) to make submissions to the Pricing Authority about the work program up to 30 days after publication.
An extract of Section 225 of the Act is attached at Appendix 1.

Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2015-16
8 June 2015The 2015-16 Pricing Framework builds on the three previous Pricing Frameworks (2012-13 Pricing Framework, 2013-14 Pricing Framework and 2014-15 Pricing Framework). For simplicity, where IHPA has reaffirmed a previous principle, the supporting argument has not been restated in this year’s paper. IHPA issued the Pricing Framework prior to releasing the NEP and NEC Determinations, which were made publicly available in March 2015.
National Efficient Price Determination 2015-16
27 February 2015The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (Pricing Authority) is established under the National Health Reform Act 2011 (Cth) (the Act), and by virtue of section 131(1) of the Act is invested with the following functions relevant to this National Efficient Price (NEP) Determination 2015 (Determination):
(a) to determine the national efficient price for health care services provided by public hospitals where the services are funded on an activity basis;
