National Efficient Price Determination 2013-14
29 March 2013The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (Pricing Authority) is established under the National Health Reform Act 2011 (Cth) (the Act), and by virtue of section 131(1) of the Act is invested with the following functions relevant to this National Efficient Price Determination 2013 (Determination):
(a) to determine the national efficient price for health care services provided by public hospitals where the services are funded on an activity basis;
National Hospital Cost Data Collection, Independent Financial Review, Round 15 (Financial year 2010/11)
1 March 2013The National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) is the primary data collection that the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) relies on to calculate the National Efficient Price used for the funding of public hospital services. To ensure that the quality of NHCDC data is robust and fit-for-purpose, IHPA commissions an independent financial review to assess whether all participating hospitals have included appropriate costs and patient activity.

Submissions were forwarded to IHPA in a range of formats including Word, RTF, PDF and handwritten or typed hardcopy. In order to make submissions available as soon as possible, most submissions have been published in their original format. Handwritten submissions have been scanned into PDF documents. If the content has been emailed to IHPA the text of email submissions has been reproduced in Word format.

National Pricing Model Technical Specifications 2012-13

It provides the technical specifications for how IHPA developed the ABF models for the service streams to be funded on this basis from 1 July 2012, and provides guidance to hospitals, Local Health Networks (LHN) and state and territory health authorities on how to apply these to hospital activity.

Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2012-13
30 May 2012Governments agreed to establish the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (the IHPA) to provide independent advice about the efficient cost of public hospital services. Much of this advice will be evidence‐ based, drawing on technical knowledge and expertise about the classification, costing and funding of public hospital services. But, the IHPA must also balance a range of national policy objectives including improving the efficiency and accessibility of public hospital services.
