Strategic Review of the National Hospital Cost Data Collection
8 July 2014The NHCDC Strategic Review has been commissioned by the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) to assess the NHCDC's suitability as the primary data collection to determine the NEP, seek the views of stakeholders regarding issues with the current NHCDC and its future directions, and recommend a roadmap for the future. This review involved national consultation with 148 stakeholders, to examine positive and negative aspects of the NHCDC through interview and submission.

Submissions were forwarded to IHPA in a range of formats including Word, RTF, PDF and handwritten or typed hardcopy. In order to make submissions available as soon as possible, most submissions have been published in their original format. Handwritten submissions have been scanned into PDF documents. If the content has been emailed to IHPA the text of email submissions has been reproduced in Word format.
National Pricing Model Technical Specifications 2014–15
28 February 2014This document was produced as an accompaniment to the NEP14 and NEC14 Determinations. It provides the technical specifications for how IHPA developed the ABF models for the service streams to be funded on this basis from 1 July 2014, and provides guidance to hospitals, Local Health Networks (LHN) and state and territory health authorities on how to apply these to hospital activity.

8 October 2013The National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) is the primary data collection that the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) relies on to calculate the National Efficient Price used for the funding of public hospital services. To ensure that the quality of NHCDC data is robust and fit-for-purpose, IHPA commissions an independent financial review to assess whether all participating hospitals have included appropriate costs and patient activity.

Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2013-14
3 June 2013In June 2012, the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) published the National Efficient Price Determination for 2012-13, and the Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2012- 2013 that underpinned the determination. In September 2012, IHPA released a consultation paper on key issues that IHPA was considering in the preparation of the Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2013-2014.
