The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) today released its Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2015-16 for public consultation.
IHPA Chair Shane Solomon said the Pricing Framework outlines the principles, scope and methodology adopted by IHPA to determine the National Efficient Price (NEP) and the National Efficient Cost (NEC) for Australian public hospital services for each financial year.
“The National Efficient Price and the National Efficient Cost currently determine the Commonwealth Government’s level of funding for Australian public hospital services,” said Mr Solomon.
“IHPA encourages submissions from all stakeholders and the general public as the feedback helps to drive the financial sustainability of public hospital services,” he said.
The consultation paper includes:
- The pricing guidelines which explain the key decisions made by IHPA.
- The principles and methodology used by IHPA to determine the NEP and NEC.
- IHPA’s proposed response to issues that have arisen since the last pricing round.
The Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2015-16 consultation paper is available at www.ihpa.gov.au.
